During my years in Medical Imaging I have provided documents and support noting the value of new and used Medical Imaging equipment for acquisition and corporate evaluation to determine value for ongoing or dissolving practices as well as purchase and disposal.
I have provided legal support both in documentation and personal testimony for evaluation and issues that develop from vendors and customers for many imaging products including MRI and CT. I have extensive education in most imaging modalities including MRI valuation and issues that pertain to the use, installation, deinstallation, storage, moving, sale and resale of imaging systems. I have supported testimony in a court of law for suits that involved failures and damages caused by improper installations and support.
I have lived in the Birmingham area since the inception of Medical Imaging Systems in 1956. I started in the imaging business in January, 1980 in a legacy business founded by my father, William E. Schaefer. The company at that time was P&S X-Ray Company, Inc. I have two children, Marc A. and William Eric Schaefer that will be joining the Marine Recon Reserve this July. I am very proud of the most important job I have had to date, being their father.
I found success in the imaging business fleeting at first and came to understand the path to success after the second year at P&S. The growth in imaging in the ‘80’s with CT, MRI and digital vascular was a boon to those that adapted. I became the President of P&S X-Ray in 1996. We changed the name of the company to Medical Imaging Systems and changed the format for business growth. MIS became more responsive to new modalities and service of equipment it did not market. MIS became the true definition of an ISO.
MIS has had some great milestones in its years by being a leader in Mammography installations in this area. MIS was always a top performer with CGR, Lorad and SMS. MIS had years which we attained 70% of the market share in mammography and 95% market share in Universal RF. MIS has placed over 30 Universal RF systems over the years. We owe the success to a great team of support and service as well as trained sales specialists over those years. While MIS has been successful during my term in management I could not have done it without a great team supporting our efforts.
